Ingredient Details
The Coriolus versicolor or "Turkey Tail" mushroom

The Coriolus versicolor or "Turkey Tail" mushroom has been investigated in numerous laboratory, animal and human clinical studies. Most of these studies have demonstrated that it does appear to have significant antimicrobial, antiviral and antitumor properties when used as a supplement to chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy. The anti-cancer and immune stimulating properties of Coriolus versicolor have been attributed to two extracts from its cultured mycelium (thread-like extensions). These extracts are both protein-bound polysaccharides known as polysaccharide K (PSK) and polysaccharide-peptide (PSP). Hot water is required to extract these active components.

Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum)

Known as "The Elixir of Immortality," Reishi mushrooms have long been used in China and Japan. Reishi is classified as one of the "supreme herbs" in the sixteenth century compendium Materia Medica, and was believed to help promote healing and longevity.* Recent studies show that Reishi may help maintain healthy immune, antimicrobial, antiviral and antitumor properties, and protects the nervous and cardiovascular systems.* Reishi has also been shown to support healthy liver function.*

Cordyceps (Cordyceps sinensis)

Found in pristine high altitude locations in Nepal and China, Cordyceps mushrooms are used in China to promote stamina, endurance and sex drive.* Cordyceps has gained much attention in the West since the early 1990's, when Chinese track athletes shattered world records and revealed that Cordyceps was an important part of their training regimen. Since that time Cordyceps has been embraced by a growing number of endurance athletes worldwide.

Patients suffering from Coxsackie B viral myocarditis with depressed natural killer (NK) activity were treated with Astragulas membranaceus (AM) intramuscularly for 3-4 months. After the treatment, the NK activity was increased significantly from 11.5 +/- 11.9% before therapy to 44.9 +/- 15.0%. Another 6 patients of Coxsackie B viral myocarditis with depressed NK activity were treated with conventional therapy. The NK activity remained unchanged in 12.9 +/- 6%.
